LV3 LV Transition Polymeric (Wavecon) to PILCSTA Main Cable – Three Phase Jointing Course

Duration: Five days

Venue: Sterling Power Training, Halesowen

Membership: This cable jointing course is designed for existing cable jointers who have experience of jointing an/or have completed Sterling Power Training’s LV2 course or is in the process of taking a suitable electrical qualification i.e. C&G2322 or equivalent

It is recommended that trainee cable jointers should have at least a basic understanding of numeracy and literacy to successfully complete the course.

Maximum number of delegates: Seven trainee jointers per course

Training Course Objectives: By the end of the jointer training course you should be able to:

• Understand and demonstrate personal safety including the basics of on site safety requirements, hand tools, cable jointing resins and personal hygiene
• Evaluate electrical test results and demonstrate the use of instruments
• Demonstrate they can complete a transition mains straight joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable
• Demonstrate they can complete transition mains breeches joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable
• Demonstrate they can complete mains pot end PILCSTA mains cable three phase and single phase service connection
• Demonstrate they can complete a PILCSTA mains service breeches joint

Jointer Training Course Outline

The following course content will be spread over five days of theory and practical training.

Day 1

• Review of personal safety requirements/tools, resins and personal hygiene. Testing procedures and use of instruments will be reviewed
• Preparation of transition mains straight joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable
• Carry out transition mains straight joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable

Day 2

• Continue to carry out transition mains straight joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable
• Preparation of PILCSTA mains service cable  joint
• Carry out PILCSTA mains service cable joint

Day 3

• Continue to carry out PILCSTA mains service cable joint
• Preparation of transition mains breeches joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable
• Carry out transition mains breeches joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable

Day 4

• Continue to carry out transition mains breeches joint – Wavecon cable to PILCSTA three phase cable
• Preparation of mains pot end PILCSTA and mains cable three phase. The pot end joint will include a single phase service connection
• Carry out mains pot end PILCSTA mains cable three phase

Day 5

• Continue to carry out mains pot end PILCSTA and mains cable three phase joint
• Course assessments and review
