HV5 33kV Single Core Polymeric XLPE Cable Jointing Course

Duration - Two days

Venue - Sterling Power Training, Halesowen

Membership - This 33kV cable jointing training course is designed for existing HV jointers that are experienced in handling and stripping XLPE cables at 11kV.

It is recommended that trainee 33kV cable jointers should have at least a basic understanding of numeracy and literacy to successfully complete the course.

Maximum number of delegates - Six trainee 33kV jointers per course.

Training Course Objectives - By the end of this course you should be able to:

• Understand and demonstrate personal safety including the basics of on site safety requirements, hand tools, resins and personal hygiene
• Identify a 33kV polymeric cable
• Demonstrate 33kV sheath removal, screen stripping, insulation and earth wire preparation and presenting smooth cores ready for cable jointing
• Demonstrate they can carry out a 33kV 150sqmm Single Core Cable Box/Pole Termination
• Demonstrate they can carry out a 33kV 150sqmm Single Core Cable Straight Joint

Day 1

• Introduction to 33kV Polymeric Cable
• Preparation of 33kV Polymeric Cables for Cable End Termination
• Prepare 33kV 150sqmm Single Core Cable for Cable Box/Pole Termination
• Complete 33kV 150sqmm Single Core Cable for Cable Box/Pole Termination

Day 2

• Prepare 33kV 150sqmm Single Core Cable for Straight Joint
• Complete 33kV 150sqmm Single Core Cable for Straight Joint
• Course Appraisal

 

HV Cable Jointing Materials List

Each delegate will be required to bring the following jointing kits and cable:

• 1 x Tyco 33kV single phase 150sqmm Straight Joint Kit
• 1 x Tyco 33kV single phase 150sqmm Cable End Termination Kit

 

HV Cable Requirements

• 3m x 33kV Single Phase 150sqmm XLPE cable
