Cable Sheath Repairs for Hazardous Areas

3M Scotch 2228 Rubber Mastic Tape

3M Scotch 2228 Rubber (EPR) Mastic Tape is ideal for providing repairs to damaged cable sheaths where cables are located in hazardous areas which preclude the use of conventional heat-shrink wraparound cable repair kits. Cold applied cable sheath repair tapes are suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 as no "hot-working" is required. Low voltage cables are prone to outer cable sheath damage and degradation caused by vibration in industrial environments, this includes oil, gas and petrochem sites. 3M Scotch 2228 is self amalgmating and provides excellent resistance to water penetration.

3M Scotch 2228 Rubber Mastic Tape

3M Scotch 2228 mastic tape is a conformable self-fusing rubber electrical insulating and sealing tape. This 3M tape consists of an EPR backing coated with aggressive, temperature stable mastic adhesive designed for electrical insulating and moisture sealing applications. The Scotch 2228 is flexible over a wide temperature range with excellent weather and moisture resistance.

3M Scotch 2228 tape is applied for primary electrical insulation for :- cable and wire connections rated up to 1000 volts and/ or for bus bar connections rated up to 35kV.
