SPS high voltage cable termination kits are suitable for single and three core polymeric cables (XLPE and EPR) with operating voltages of:
HV heat shrink cable terminations are tested and qualified as outlined in Cenelec standards HD 628 S1 and 629.1 S2 : 2006.
This cable testing testing criteria encompasses VDE0279 and IEC60502 and the following voltage classes : 3.8/6.6 (7.2kV), 6.35/11 (12kV), 8.7/15 (17.5kV), 12.7/22 (24kV) and 19/33 (36kV).

HV Cable Terminating Tips
Screen Treatment i) Copper Wire Screen - twist copper wire screens together and bond to suitable earth point with mechanical or crimp cable lugs, red mastic sealant (supplied) is applied to below the sheath cut. ii) Copper Tape Screen - solderless earth bonding kits (copper earth braid plus constant force springs) provide earthing to high voltage copper tape screen cables.
Pictured : Copper Tape Screen Earthing. Apply one turn of red mastic tape at a point 30mm below the cable sheath cut. Remove copper tape screens to a point 40mm above the cable sheath cut. Position a copper earth braid onto the copper tape screen and secure using constant force spring. Ensure the moisture block is bedded into the red mastic tape and apply one further run of mastic tape over this point. Secure end of the copper earth braid to suitable earth point within high voltage switchgear, transformer or motor.
Outdoor Cable Terminations feature rain sheds fitted at a distance 200mm from the lower edge of the anti-track heat shrink tube to the edge of the rain shed. All subsequent rain sheds should be installed at a distance of 80mm from edge-to-edge. Rain sheds should not be installed at the top of the stress control tubes. Rain sheds should be installed through 180 degrees if the cable termination is to be installled above the equipment (reverse position).
