Is It Quicker To Install A Roxtec BG Sealing System In An Enclosure Than To Install Cable Glands?

The electricians, Peter Low and Lau C.K have installed cable glands daily and they work efficiently together. They have also installed Roxtec BG sealing systems, but not as many times as cable glands. 

To begin with, the electricians made way for 20 cables in the bottom of two enclosures:

  1. An opening for a Roxtec CF32 Cable Transit Frame 
  2. An opening for 12 cable glands

Roxtec BG vs Cable Glands - Time Scales:

1) The Installation of the Cable Glands

First row of cable glands installed in 8 minutes

Second row ready after 38 minutes

Third row ready after 1 hour 17 minutes

Installation of the 20 cable glands finished in 2 hours 4 minutes 42 seconds (2:04:42:40)*

*The electricans had to seal the last 4 cable glands into the side of the enclosure due to lack of space for the holes and cables.

2) The Installation of the Roxtec BG Cable Transit System

Installation of the Roxtec CF transit frame takes 4 minutes 24 seconds

Preparation of the armoured cables: Parallel preparation is used so the electricians can fit all the cables at the same time, this can be done with Roxtec as it is possible to adjust the cables later (unlike cable glands which have to be fixed righ away).

Layers are peeled off the Roxtec BG modules to adapt them to the correct cable sizes. 

ALL cables prepared after 28 minutes 10 seconds.

The electricians fill the opening of the enclosure with the cables and BG sealing modules half by half - there is enough room to enter ALL cables from below. 

The Installation is complete after just 56 minutes 58 seconds (56:58:44)
