Why Is Wire Management So Important For The Rail Industry.
Rail transport is a key cog in any countries transportation infrastructure. Connecting people, businesses and industries alike, railways are vital to the global economy. The UK National Rail network, known as Network Rail, is the 18th largest in the world and in the year 2011 - 2012 alone there were over 1.4 billion journeys undertaken. Excluding London Underground stations, there are 2,516 passenger stations on the UK Rail network.
In addition to the protection of human and animal life that may come into contact with electrified cables, Panduit wire management protects against the theft, damage and general degradation of the many cable and wires that are laid. Without adequate protection, cables and wires can be stolen, causing not only lengthy delays to rail services but also high costs to the taxpayer as the UK government supports the rail industry by Department for Transport (DfT) support grants paid to Network Rail and Train Operating Companies, and PTE Special Grants. Rail freight grants are also paid by Government to encourage the movement of freight by rail.
The National Rail network in the UK is around 9,700 miles long, of which, over 3,200 miles is electrified. This results in thousands of miles of cables and wires, all of which needs containment and management. In addition the obvious safety issues surrounding electrified cables, there are a number of standards that must be met in order to satisfy the regulations that govern the rail industry.
As Panduit's products meet these standards, they are a great choice when it comes to wire and cable management. Panduit offer a full range of products to suit all industry needs.
