Here you can read a Cable Jointing instruction illustrating the steps a HV Jointer needs to take to transition joint 11kV power cables. On this occasion, the cable joint is being used to connect XLPE insulated cable to Paper insulated cable where the polymeric cable is AWA (aluminium wire armoured) and the paper cable is lead covered. The cable joints include mechanical shearbolt connectors with a block to prevent oil migration from the PILC to XLPE cables.
