Ellis Patents Goes Underground With New Fire Rated Phoenix Cable Cleats

T&D distribute Ellis Patents Cable Cleats.

Leading cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis Patents has received London Underground (LUL) approval for its Phoenix range of fire proof cable cleats.

Ellis Patents Phoenix cable cleats are designed specifically for installation with fire protection (FP) rated cables, the cable cleats are manufactured in 316L stainless steel, are fire proof and corrosion resistant and provide a cost-effective method of safe cable restraint for any FP cable installation.

The Phoenix cable cleat range was granted full LUL 1-085 approval and has been added to the London Underground Approved Products Register as product 1661. To achieve this Phoenix cleats complied with standard 1-085 A2 for Fire Safety Performance Materials having met the following parameters for electro-technical components: 
 
* Limiting Oxygen Index to BS EN ISO 4589-2:1999
* Smoke Emission to BS 6853:1999, Annex D.8.3
* Toxic Fume Emission to NFX 70-100:2008 
 
 
Andrew Booth, development manager of Ellis, said: “Maintaining the London Underground network is a multi-million pound process, which involves hundreds of different projects every year. As a manufacturer for the electrical industry we feel it is imperative that all our suitable cable cleat products can be considered for these jobs, and to do so they have to receive LUL approval. While this can be a lengthy process, it is always worth the effort.”
 
Ellis Patents Alpha cable cleats, Emperor cable cleats, Vulcan VRT+ cable cleats and LUL version 1F one hole cable clamps, 2F two hole cable clamps and LUL industrial cable clamps were granted LUL approval in 2010.

T&D are Link-up Registered and Approved Vendors to Network Rail and TfL London Underground (LU).
