CSD RISE Cable Duct Seals Combat Water, Gas, Fire & Vermin

The CSD RISE Cable Duct Seal system is used across many industries, where vermin ingress has been a problem, and is specified by many water and electricity companies in the UK. CSD RISE cable duct seal kits provide reliable and effective protection of low and high voltage power cable ducts against water ingress, gas migration and fire spread.

For instance, CSD RISE cable seals are written into Thames Water’s specification and included in the WIMES specification as an approved method of sealing cable ducts in the water utility industry.

Consequently, CSD RISE has been adopted by Welsh Water, Southern Water, South-West Water, Northumbrian Water and Scottish Water. CSD RISE cable duct seals are also used by United Utilities for both water and power sites. In the UK power distribution markets CSD RISE is installed by UKPN, (formerly EDF Energy), Western Power Distribution, Northern Powergrid and Scottish Power to name a few.

In the Motorway & Highways sectors, CSD RISE has recently been supplied to J McCann & Co for the M62 and M56 motorways and Morgan Sindall on the M62 improvement schemes. T&D have also supplied the CSD RISE sealing system to protect traffic signal duct against flooding.

With regards to vermin ingress, the CSD RISE system is currently used extensively across the water utility industry where the ingress of rats into cable ducts has been a major issue. Thames Water found that when expanding foam was used this attracted rats who would gnaw at the foam and use it as a bedding material. Thames Water now specify CSD RISE across their network and have no problems of rat ingress in these sealed cable ducts. Once the sealant is fully cured, it is smooth and is odourless, meaning that vermin are not attracted to the materials, and find it difficult to break through the seal, and would not want to use it as bedding. CSD RISE was also used across Heathrow Airport substations to prevent attacks by rabbits.
