T&D Specify & Supply CSD RISE Cable Duct Seals To New Major Project

Cable Duct Sealing.

Last week, Balfour Beatty/Birse contacted T&D for advice on an urgent requirement to seal over 100no 100mm cable ducts at Doncaster Southern Gateway.

T&D recommended the CSD RISE Cable Duct Seal System to provide the most reliable protection against water migration into the traffic signal cable runs via the cable duct ends.

Builders expanding foam was disallowed by the Contractor due to the clear risk of water flood damage to the cable ducts as expanding foam degrades and fails overtime. The site installation team will benefit from the tool-free installation of CSD RISE Duct Seals, enabling multiple site personnel to assist in the cable duct sealing without resort to purchasing expensive installation tools associated with inflatable type cable duct seals.

T&D and CSD satisfied the lead time pressure and delivered the cable duct seals to site within 48 hours from receipt of order - fast delivery from UK stocks enabled works to continue apace at this prestigious UK construction project.

Project Spotlight

The £25m Doncaster Southern Gateway White Rose Way improvement scheme is being completed in two phases and involves upgrading 1.9km of existing carriageway between junction 3 of the M18 and Lady Bank junction at Lakeside Retail Park. Once both phases are complete the entire A6182 route will be a dual carriageway, thereby increasing road capacity, reducing congestion and improving journey times and road safety. The improvements will release planning restrictions and help unlock major developments in the area, which will see significant new investment in Doncaster, creating jobs and delivering new housing and should prove to be the catalyst for economic growth across the borough.

The principle feature of the scheme is the 184m long road bridge over 17 railway tracks, including the East Coast Main Line. The roadwork's for the scheme have involved the import of 100,000m3 of locally sourced recycled colliery spoil. The scheme is adjacent to the Potteric Carr Nature Reserve which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and thus the project has kept environmental matters and impact of its work to the forefront.

The Potteric Carr and Ladybank roundabouts are removed to create two signalised junctions. Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council has coordinated multiple statutory authority services to be moved or diverted for the scheme. There are approximately 7kms of service ducts provided across the new bridge for existing and future domestic and business developments.
