Precast Concrete Cable Protection
Precast concrete cable protection covers are widely acknowledged as being the most durable and reliable protection system for underground cables and pipes.
Since Roman times, concrete has been the construction material of choice as it starts its life as a strong and durable material and then just continues to get even stronger with age.

Concrete cable protection covers act as a protective barrier against damage to buried services, reducing the risk of accidents and costly repairs to low and high voltage power cables (including 11kV and 33kV).
Concrete protection covers are manufactured and tested to BS 2484 and tend to be imprinted with ‘DANGER ELECTRICITY’ with other wording for services such as Telephone, Gas, Oil, Fibre Optics also available if required.
The Sizes Available
Concrete cable covers are available in 3 lengths and 3 widths and whilst in recent years, plastic cable cover variants have begun to appear, there are some very compelling reasons why concrete should always be the material of choice.
1.Safety - Under impact from a mechanical excavator or hand shovel a concrete cable cover is easy to identify. Unlike plastic cable covers which will bend and often bring the operator dangerously close to the services which are being protected, concrete creates a physical barrier which will stop the operator from continuing the dig. Under severe impact, it will break which in turn will alert the operator to its presence.
2.Durability - Concrete has been proven to last hundreds and even thousands of years in even the harshest of environments. Concrete cable covers are also steel reinforced giving them additional strength under impact.
3.Recyclability - 100% of a precast concrete cable protection cover can be recycled.
4.Value for money - Concrete covers are mass produced which means they are great value compared to covers manufactured from other materials.
5.Availability - As they are mass produced, concrete covers are always available ‘’off the shelf’’ with delivery to site often possible on a next day basis.
6.Rot and vermin proof - Concrete doesn’t rot and is not vulnerable to vermin attack.
When protecting vital cable and pipe services and the safety of staff is your responsibility concrete protection covers will never let you let down.
