Which Cembre Cable Lugs Should Be Used For 33kV Crimping ?
By Chris Dodds on 23rd June, 2014

33kV Cable Lugs.
Cembre 2A-M range of copper compression terminals (cable lugs) are suitable for use on stranded copper conductors up to 33kV, provided Cembre ME hexagonal die sets are used with a suitably calibrated Cembre crimping tool. For instance, 10-400sqmm cable lugs can be crimped using Cembre HT131-C Hydraulic Crimping Tool and for applications up to 630sqmm Cembre ECW-H3D Crimp Head coupled to Cembre PO7000 Foot Pump can be used to install cable lugs.
Although the Cembre 2A range of cable terminal lugs (pictured below) are suitable for 33kV this method of crimping is not as practical as using Cembre CA range of cable terminal lugs and relevant die sets as the Cembre CA range has more rounded compression. The CA range of copper compression cable terminals (cable lugs) are suitable for up to 33kV provided Cembre MMT circumferential dies are used in conjunction with a suitably calibrated Cembre tool, such as as the HT131-C Hydraulic Crimping Tool pictured below.
