Careful and equal attention should be afforded to the selection of 11kV cable lugs when terminating high voltage cables with stranded copper conductors, this includes 11kV BS6622 and BS6883 cables. Often installers specify type tested 11kV joints and terminations and overlook the cable lug specification. - Cembre high voltage crimp lugs are manufactured from electrolytic copper tube - the copper tube dimensions are designed to obtain the most efficient conductivity and mechanical strength to resist vibration and pull out.

Strength - Cembre high voltage crimp lugs are annealed to guarantee optimum ductility which is an absolute necessity for crimp connectors which must withstand the severe deformation arising when compressed by hydraulic crimp tools. In electrical installations subject to vibration, crimp terminals must perform a reliable connection - annealing avoids cracking or breaks between the cable lug palm and barrel.

Reliability - Cembre crimp lugs feature an extended barrel design facilitating full insertion of the the copper conductor into the crimp lug - the cable lug barrel length has been designed to allow easy and accurate positioning of the dies during the crimping operation.

Cembre 11kV cable lugs are suitable for terminating high voltage (HV) stranded copper conductors to BS6360 Class 2. Cembre lugs are suitable for terminating and crimping 11kV cables indoor and outdoor due to absence of conductor inspection hole - crimped using Cembre hydraulic crimping tools (HT51 up to 240sqmm or HT131-C up to 400sqmm). Cembre 2A copper cable lugs are short circuit tested to BS4579 Part 3 for high voltage 11kV cable crimping termination.
