Who Are COBA?

Established in 1966 as COBA Plastics, the company was originally run by the two founders from a very small premises in central England.

Today COBA employs over 700 people with their matting and flooring products being used the world over. 

COBASwitch insulating matting provides high voltage insulation to substations, switchgear and switchrooms - COBASwitch matting protects against electrical shock for 11kV and 15kV switchgear installations. COBASwitch electrical insulating matting provides excellent resistance to transformer and switchgear oils and is fully independently tested to IEC 61111. Test report available on request.

• Designed for use in front of switchboards and high voltage equipment
• Fine fluted surface provides slip-resistance
• Available in two thicknesses: 4mm and 5mm
• 4mm matting tested to 20kV for 30kV electrical working according to BS EN 61111 Class 2
• 5mm matting tested to 40kV for 50kV electrical working according to BS EN 61111 Class 4 
• BS EN 61111 insulating matting supercedes BS921/1976 specification 

IEC Classification System Against Maximum Working Voltages

BS 921 Standard Superceded By IEC 61111

The British Standard BS 921 that specifys the Specification of rubber insulating mats for electrical purposes, has been replaced by the IEC 61111 standard. This action has come into place as it was conflicting with the current UK national standard for electrical insulating matting BS EN 61111.
