All the preventative planning that you can employ in any given situation cannot cover every eventuality. Whilst most of us in business strive to be responsive rather than reactive, there are times when we need to immediately react to the unforeseen circumstances that are thrown at us.

So it was with Optimum Power Services recently, when at the end of a typical working day they received an emergency phone call from one of their long standing clients.

“Downtime” has become somewhat of a cliché in the world of business, but for a large Data Centre downtime is a catastrophe.

Just before 6pm, OPS received a call from a large UK data centre that had had a mains power failure – with the average cost of data centre downtime across all industries being approximately $7,900 per minute, time is of the essence.

The data centre manager reported that they had issues with some of their LV panels; they required a temporary LV cable diversion that consisted of 10 x 240sqmm flexible cables 100 metre in length along with cable ramps to keep walkways open in the data centre.

As always, Optimum Power Services are primed and ready to mobilise as and when their clients need them and they dispatched a 3 man team, travelled 200 miles, and pulled in 1000 metres of cable within the space of just a few hours.

The OPS team worked throughout the night installing the necessary cables and swapping the clients’ supplies and getting them back on track.

OPS take immense pride in the work that they carry out and are able to provide both preventative and responsive power solutions for a wide range of industry sectors.
