Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Tower Gets Prysmian FP200 Gold Cable Protection

Etihad Towers is the latest high profile project in the Middle East to be protected by Prysmian FP200 Gold Fire Resistant cable.

The soon to be completed, billion-dollar, Etihad Towers development is set to become one of the most prestigious in Abu Dhabi and Prysmian's FP200 Gold is currently being installed in the vast fire alarm system right across the complex.

Consisting of five towers and located on the waterfront at the end of the Abu Dhabi Corniche, the development rises up to 77 storeys at its peak and features a range of amenities, including five star hotel tower, huge shopping mall, 870 luxury apartments and extensive conference centre.

The Electrical Project Manager on site commented: "On such a large and important installation as this, with more than 200,000 metres of cable being installed by our electricians, it was imperative that we used the very best fire cable on the market.

The Etihad Towers will be a major landmark in the region and so we could not risk using a product that would fail if the worst should happen."

Prysmian FP200 Gold Fire Resistant Cable - Features
Conductor
  • Plain annealed copper, solid (1.0-2.5mm²) or stranded circular conductors (4.0mm²) to meet the requirements of BS EN 60228 class 1 or class 2
Insulation
  • High performance, damage resistant Insudite to meet BS EN 50363-5, Type EI5
Sheath
  • Robust thermoplastic low smoke, zero halogen and reduced flame propagation outer sheath.
  • Standard colours white and red with bespoke colours available to special order.
  • For external exposure use white sheath. For red sheath use suitable shading protection from UV.
Overall Metallic Screen & CPC
  • Polyester backed laminated aluminium tape bonded to outer sheath to provide overall screen.
  • In contact with full sized, tinned annealed copper circuit protective conductor and laid-up with the cores to provide automatic screen earthing.
