Prysmian Hydrocarbon Resistant Cable Splice Kits For Major Oil & Gas Project

LV Cable Joints Hydrocarbon Resistant for Oil, Gas, Petrochemical Industries - Prysmian BICAST

T&D are supplying Prysmian hydrocarbon resistant cable splices (joints) to provide long-term and stable performance in the Oil and Gas industry. The project in Kazakhstan requires 200off Prysmian PBMPJ4 (4 core up to 10sqmm cable joints) and 50off Prysmian PBMPJ5 (4 core up to 70sqmm cable joints).

Prysmian LV straight joints feature a phenolic resin cable jointing shell to provide resistance to hydrocarbons found in oil, gas and petrochemical installations. Tests to demonstrate the chemical resistance of both the cable joint shell and sealing putty have been carried out to BS6899 using ASTM oils, numbers 2 and 3. This cable joint test calls for 24 hour immersion at 100 degrees Celsius and specifies permisslb echanges in mechanical properties before and after ageing. In each case minimal changes were observed after immersion in both oils, under conditions where most conventional polymers used in cable construction would not survive.

Prysmian PBMPJ low voltage (LV) straight joints are suitable for cable jointing 600/1000V polymeric insulated, lead covered SWA (armoured) cables to EEMUA 133 (stranded copper conductors). Prysmian hydrocarbon resistant cable joints include armour bonds for earthing wire armoured or wire braided cables and the jointing kits are designed to accept LV compression crimp connectors or LV mechanical connectors.
