Polypipe Ridgicoil Cable Duct Protects Underground Power & CCTV Cable In Oil & Gas Industry

T&D have supplied over 2,500 metres of Polypipe Ridgicoil cable duct to Murphy Group working on Laggan Tormore Gas Plant project to provide underground cable protection to power and CCTV cables.

Laggan Tormore Gas Plant

Laggan Tormore The Project

Located approximately 125km north-west of the Shetland Islands, the Laggan and Tormore fields represent the future of the UK oil and gas industry.

Both fields lie in an area known generically as West of Shetland – a region geographically closer to the North Atlantic than the North Sea – located on the edge of the UK continental shelf.

Here, water depths descend rapidly from an average of 120m to 600m and beyond. It’s a uniquely challenging environment in which to operate, but also one with great potential.

Polypipe Ridgicoil Ducting - Underground Cable Ducts

T&D have supplied 46no 50m coils of Polypipe Ridgicoil RC110X50G (Green) to protect CCTV cables and 18no 50m coils of Ridgicoil RC110X50BE (Black) to protect low voltage power cables - boths type of cable duct suit a maximum cable OD of 110mm with 94mm ID.

Polypipe 94mm Ridgicoil Power Duct

Polypipe Ridgicoil is a strong yet flexible alternative to conventional cable ducting for underground utilities. Polypipe Ridgicoil’s flexibility eliminates the need for special cable duct bends and the smooth bore has a low co-efficient of friction for ease of cable installation.

Polypipe Ridgicoil cable duct provides significant on-site time and labour savings compared to Ridgiduct straight lengths - ideal for projects with non-linear cable trenches where underground cable routes involve multiple bends at various angles.

Polypipe Ridgicoil cable duct flexibility allows easier protection of underground power cables feeding distribution pillars, switchgear and transformers from underground locations without resort to angled bends and couplers.
