The Pfisterer Sicon is the first cable connector system with stepless shear bolts. Pfisterer bolted connections offer technical and practical advantages that compression connections cannot provide. For instance, a large cross-section range and easy handling. This high voltage clamping technology perfectly complements the new multi-range cable accessories. Fitting the Shear Bolt Connectors requires only a simple tool. Until now, the “multi-stage shear bolt” has been the state of the art in screw technology. The Pfisterer Sicon mechanical shear bolt cable connectors are available with moisture block for cable jointing 11kV and 33kV cables.

The moisture blocked HV mechanical cable connectors are recommended for following high voltage applications :

• when the HV connector is used with polymeric insulated stranded conductor, to prevent the migration of water along the cables
• when the HV connector is used to connector paper and polymeric cables, to prevent the migration of paper cable compound into the polymeric cables

There are many advantages of using the Sicon High Voltage Mechanical Shear Bolt Connectors, for example there is up to 30% increased contact force compared with conventional type terminals. The Sicon connectors have a bolt base plate for uniform friction and increased contact force and there is no need for filing since nothing protudes. The shear bolt connectors have full utilisation of the thread loading for any size conductor and a smooth breakage of the shear bolt gives a more simplified tightening process. The Pfisterer Sicon high voltage mechanical shear bolt connector is suitable for fine-stranded Class 5 cables.
