Lucy Zodion Trojan Midi Isolators Ordered For Papua New Guinea LNG Project

T&D Exports client Kentz Engineers & Constructors have ordered 98 off Lucy Trojan Isolators to suit a customised application on their PNG LNG project.

PNG LNG is an integrated development that includes gas production and processing facilities in the Southern Highlands and Western Provinces of Papua New Guinea, including liquefaction and storage facilities (located northwest of Port Moresby on the Gulf of Papua) with capacity of 6.6 million tons per year. There are over 700 kilometers (450 miles) of pipelines connecting the facilities.

PNG LNG will provide a long-term supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to four major LNG customers in the Asia region including: Chinese Petroleum Corporation, Taiwan; Osaka Gas Company Limited; The Tokyo Electric Power Company Inc.; and Unipec Asia Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec).

Kentz required street lighting isolation / MCB units for the PNG LNG project in Papua New Guinea. 94 street lighting poles are being fed by a looping 10sqmm 2 core + E steel wire armoured cable (SWA), with feed to the lights provided by 2.5sqmm 2 core +E non-armoured cable.

Lucy Trojan Midi isolators were customised with a single MCB (10 amp) and a suitable extension trough to allow 10sqmm cable to be connected and a 3 cable entry gland plate to take 2 x 20mm or 25mm SWA cable glands and 1 x 20mm poly cable gland.

What is LNG? Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is the liquid form of natural gas (mostly methane) which has been cooled to its liquid state at extremely low temperatures.

To convert natural gas into liquid form, the gas is super-chilled to -160°C. At this very cold temperature, the gas becomes a liquid, occupying about 600 times less space.

LNG is colourless, odourless and non-toxic and is stored at atmospheric pressure in specially designed onshore tanks and transported to international markets in specially designed ships.

Once shipped to its destinations around the world, LNG is warmed or 'regassified'.

It can then be transported by existing pipelines and used as a clean and safe gas: as fuel for industry, for electricity generation and in homes for heating and cooking.
