Insulating 66kV High Voltage Substation Busbars Against Flashover & Discharge

A dual combination of high voltage busbar tape overwrapped with heat shrink wraparound repair kit was proposed to solve an ongoing discharge situation.

Due to the proximity of the 66kV substation bus bars to the lightning pole an enhanced insulation system was required to prevent eventual discharge between in fault/lightning condition.

The double layer heatshrink insulation would provide adequate protection to the high voltage busbars andHeat Shrink Wraparound withstand UV and weathering degradation. The adhesive lined heat shrink wraparound kit (pictured) ensures excellent moisture blocking and environmental protection for outdoor installations.
