With the support of Hellermann Tyton, T&D have landed a major offshore project order for the supply off their range of MBT stainless steel cable ties to Shell Bonga NW (Topsides Facilities) project.

The Bonga field is located 75 miles (120 kilometers) offshore Nigeria in Oil Prospecting License 212. The field spans 37 miles (60 kilometers) in water depths of more than 3,281 feet (1,000 meters) and began producing oil and gas in November 2005. SNEPCo (55%) under a Production Sharing Contract with Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) operates Bonga.

Other partners in the field are Esso with 20% interest, NAE Nigerian Agip Exploration with 12.5% interest and Elf Petroleum Nigeria with 12.5%.

Hellermann Tyton MBT (Metal Ball Bearing Ties) ties have a patented non-releasable locking feature and offer infinite adjustment within their length.

Hellermann Tyton stainless steel cable ties are heavy duty type cable ties, once installed they can be opened and re-used if required. 

MBT cable ties are available in both types 316 and 304 grade stainless steels. Metal ties are predestinated for all areas with requirements for high holding force, reliability and fire resistance.

The MBT range of stainless steel cable ties can be used in chemical industry and on oil platfroms as well as in mass transit, shipbuilding and mining industry.

MBT stainless steel ties are also suitable for machine building, apparatus construction and in the outside area of radio technology. Onshore, MBT cable ties are a good solution to fix lighting in theatres and exhibition halls.

Jan. 2012 - Shell has restarted production at its Bonga oil field offshore Nigeria, after an oil leak was detected. The facility was closed after a leak during a tanker loading operation on Dec. 20, leading to a serious oil spill, announced Dow Jones newswires.

Shell says it completed the clean-up from the spill and resumed output on Jan. 1 at the 200,000 bopd oil field.
