BAND-IT Stainless Steel Band Strapping

 

T&D have supplied 7,000 metres of Band-It AE433 316 grade stainless steel cable banding to Harland and Wolff working on Gwynt y Mor offshore windfarm. The Band-It Cable Banding system has been used to secure power cables to stainless steel cable tray in the Siemens offshore substations engineered by Harland & Wolff.

The array of 160 Siemens' wind turbine generators will be connected via high voltage (33kV) cables in the seabed to the two new offshore substations. Once onboard the platforms the wind-generated energy will be transformed to an even higher voltage (132kV) for efficient transmission back to a new onshore substation at St Asaph in North Wales, which is also being built by Siemens.

The contract to construct the offshore substations was awarded by Siemens to H&W in July 2010 and since then the two companies have worked closely to develop the two platforms, which were built side by side in H&W''s facility in Belfast.

Band-It AE433 9.53mm wide stainless steel banding is supplied with a low smoke and fume, zero halogen coating to cushion cable sheaths - high strength, non-corrosive and easy to cut to length on site for versatile cable support of low and high voltage cables.

Band-It cable strapping is manufactured in marine grade 316 stainless steel to provide long term cable support in saltwater and seawater atmospheres.
