3M Cold shrink technology ensures a quick and easy installation without the potential risks posed by heat shrink. The cold shrink terminations are applied by simply unwinding the plastic support core in a counter clockwise direction. 

The 3M QTEN termination includes a cold shrink body with integrated, silicone elastomeric insulation and outer silicone rain sheds. There is also a separate cold shrink stress control PST. Also included are silicone Cold shrink pre stretched tubes for a bottom and top lug sealing. This termination is designed to accommodate all available cable lug designs including:

• Hexagonal
• ​Deep Crimping Technologies
• Wide variety of mechanical shear off connecting lugs

Due to the versatile design of the silicone cold shrink termination, the 3M QTEN can be installed on a wider range of cable sizes and types. The design also facilitates an easy and fast installation at temperatures ranging from -20 to +50 ºC. As with the range of 3M cold shrink terminations, there is no heat required to install and no special tools needed during splice body installation.
