The Cure.....Heat Shrink Trifurcating Transition Cable Joints
T&D, the exclusive UK distributor for SPS High Voltage Cable Joints and Cable Terminations, have provided a rapid response answer to another HV cable jointing application.
The brain teasing application was solved quickly and cable joints were delivered direct to site in 2-3 days. The 33kV Jointing Instruction was designed and approved by Richard Poulter (MD Shrink Polymer Systems) to enable the reliable cable jointing of a 3 core 33kV PILC/SWA cable onto 3 x single core 33KV XLPE/CWS cables - heat shrink cable joint kits were customised to accommodate 2 additional earth cores.
Although not shown in the 33kV cable joint kit instruction below it was essential for the HV jointer to ensure an effective seal between those earth cables exiting from the PILC cable end and the outer cable sheath and outer shrink tube, this was achieved by bedding them down in plenty of black mastic tape.
