Pfisterer Connex high voltage inner cone plug type cable terminations are designed to connect polymeric insulated cables into gas insulated switchgear, ring main units, circuit breakers, high voltage motors, transformers, tranducers and sealing boxes - Pfisterer Connex inner cone plugs are extensively used to terminate high voltage 33kV cables into GIS (gas insulated switchgear).

Pfisterer Connex inner cone plug type cable terminations include a screened separable plug-in connector and inner cone suitable for terminating graphite coated, fully bonded or "easy-strip" semi-conducting screened high voltage cables - this includes 11kV, 33kV, 52kV and transmission voltages.

SF6 Gas - Dielectric and Insulating Medium for HV Systems
SF6 gas is used in the electrical industry as a gaseous dielectric medium for high-voltage (33kV and above) circuit breakers, switchgear and other electrical equipment. SF6 gas replaces oil filled circuit breakers (OCBs) that can contain harmful PCBs. SF6 gas under pressure is used as an insulator in gas insulated switchgear (GIS) because it has a much higher dielectric strength than air or dry nitrogen enabling switchgear manufacturers to significantly reduce the size of electrical gear. This makes GIS more suitable for certain high voltage applications such as indoor placement, as opposed to air-insulated electrical gear which takes up considerably more space. Gas insulated electrical switchgear is also more resistant to the effects of pollution and climate as well as being more reliable in long-term operation because of its controlled operating environment.
