11kV Triplex heat shrink cable termination kits are available with high voltage (HV) mechanical shearbolt connectors, bolt-on Triplex cable glands, plastic A2 stuffing glands and universal insulating bushing boots for straight or right angled connection to high voltage switchgear or electrical equipment.

11kV Triplex heat shrink cable terminations are tested and qualified to International Standards including Cenelec Standard (HD 628 S1 and 629.1 S2:2006), encompassing VDE0278 and IEC60502.

New high voltage switchgear designs necessitate a revised method of terminating triplex cables into cable end boxes. Traditional gland plates have been substituted for one that permits the triplex single cores to be taken into the cable box straight and then through a plate that is split (to avoid acting as a CT and overheating) - this new cable glanding arrangement for high voltage triplex cables uses 3 plastic A2 stuffing glands in the base plate. Alternative types of high voltage switchgear allows the use of bolt-on heat shrink glands with 3 leg cable breakout sealing system.

Cable Jointers note - Before installing the triplex cable jointers should untwist the triplex cable for 1.5 to 2 metres outside the cable box - ensure that the cable glands and locking rings are fitted over the cable before making off the triplex cable termination. The cable glands do not fit over the cable lugs. This revised method of bringing HV cables into cable boxes increases the separation between the triplex cores. 

Triplex Cables 11kV - Bonding & Earthing 
It is essential high voltage Triplex copper earth screen wires are bonded together and connected to the substation HV earth - copper wires of each single core should be gathered together into a single brass shear bolt lug or crimp lug. Most cable gland plates incorporate a parking bar suitable for bolting the three cable lugs onto - a further connection is required from this parking bar to the substation HV earth.
