ABB TPO6 MV transformers are cast in epoxy resin, capable of withstanding environmental conditions and designed for insulation voltages from 17.5kV to 25kV. ABB TP06 outdoor current transformers for medium voltage applications are designed as single or multiple turn transformers, with one transformer ratio and the optional possibility to be changed over on the primary or secondary medium voltage (MV) distribution side. The number of secondary transformer windings ranges from 1 to 4 (but usually 2) depending on the parameters such as accuracy class, short-circuit current and overcurrent factor.

The secondary transformer windings are used for measurement or protection of medium voltage circuits - one terminal of each secondary winding used and one terminal of the unused, short-circuited, windings must be earthed during transformer operation. ABB TPO6 outdoor current transformers can be mounted in any position.
