CSD Duct Seals for BT Openreach Cabinet Sealing

BT divided up £2.5bn to deliver fibre broadband to two-thirds of UK premises by the end of 2015. Openreach (a BT Group Company) is leading the deployment of BT’s £2.5bn investment in fibre, upgrading and maintaining the local access network on behalf of over 450 communication providers, including other parts of BT.
 
In this highly complicated operation, Johnny McQuoid, SFBB programme director for BT Group highlighted the technical challenges of the roll-out. “This is the first large-scale FTTP deployment of its kind in the UK,” he said. “It’s a trial of our planning, building and provisioning processes and we’re learning a lot along the way.”
 
Following discussions, CSD Duct Seals were brought on board after providing a bespoke solution not only to a technical issue within the green cabinets, but a dramatic cost effective solution to Openreach.

CSD Duct Seals provided extensive trials in the York and Aylesbury area using their simple yet effective product, RISE Duct Seal using a split pvc duct frame to create more space in the existing overpopulated cable ducts within the cabinets.

The CSD Duct Seal trials were a resounding success, culminating with Openreach rolling this out nationwide within their update of cabinets. In addition CSD Duct Seals are also looking to provide training for all of Openreach installation personnel and are currently working together to provide another project solution.

CSD RISE Duct Seal is a multi-cable and pipe transit sealing system providing effective sealing solutions to all fire, gas and watertight cable duct sealing applications. CSD RISE duct seal kits comprise of 2 components, rubber insert sleeves and FIWA sealant, making the sealing system quick and easy to install. Using a split duct or frame over an existing installation extends the usable space in the cable duct and cal allow over populated cable ducts to be sealed.
