Earth End Clamps & Line End Clamps - Substations

Portable earthing for use in high voltage substations consists of line end clamps, earth end clamps, earth leads, operating insulated poles and sockets.

P&B Weir range of substation portable earthing equipment is suitable for temporary earthing within the range of conductors 66kV to 400kV.

The P&B Weir substation portable earthing equipment range is designed to meet ENA technical specification 21/21.

PB Weir portable earthing systems provide safe and sure clamping where high voltage electrical connections are to be made on dirty or heavily oxidised copper and aluminium busbars or stubs - earthing meets the requirements of 132kV, 275kV and 400kV substations having tubular aluminium connection diameters 90mm, 102mm, 140mm, 160mm and 200mm.

Earth End Clamps are spring loaded enabling manual application to aluminium or copper earth bars - live end clamps are applied by operating sockets attached to an insulated operating pole. Insulated operating poles enable installation of end clamps and earth leads - earthing leads for connecting between line end clamps and earth end clamps are short circuit tested to ESI 41-21 Section 5.

 

• Substation Earth End Clamps

P&B Weir Electrical range of earth end clamps for temporary earthing of 66kV-400kV substations - the spring loaded clamp design ensures simple hand application to either copper or aluminium earth bar to achieve optimum electrical contact and compression. HV-EHV earth end clamps should be fastened securely before installting the line end clamp. P&B Weir recommend portable earth clamps are periodically inspected and kept clean from heavy grease and pollution.  

• Substation Line End Clamps

P&B Weir Electrical range of line end clamps are manufactured from robust aluminium casting with stainless steel fittings - all types of line end clamp, whether psrung loaded or not not should be used with an operating socket attached to an insulated operating pole. Once hooked over the HV-EHV substation busbar the clamp is self-supported whilst the operating screw is tightened or loosened.
