Short Circuit Testing of Stainless Steel Cable Ties - 71.5kA
Test Object - Stainless steel ball-locking cable ties : single loop Panduit MLT-SH-LP316 and double loop Panduit MLT-DSH-LP316. Cable ladder : Oegland OE100-300SS. High Voltage Cables : RFOU 6/10 (12) kV P3 single core 240sqmm and RFOU 12/20kV single core 300sqmm
Summary of Cable Tie Short Circuit Testing
Testing of short circuit stresses were performed in three installations of high voltage single core cables mounted in trefoil on a cable ladder - the stainless steel cable ties were fastened to the cable ladder rung at a distance of 0.6m. The duration of each short circuit test was 0.1 second. The high voltage cable installation with copper conductor cross section of 300sqmm and double loop Panduit stainless steel cable ties were tested with two short-circuits with maximum momentary value of 71.5kA and 69.2kA respectively. The high voltage cable installation with copper conductor cross section of 240sqmm and single loop Panduit stainless steel cable ties were tested with one short-circuit with a maximum momentary value of 53.0kA. The results from the short-circuit tests on the stainless steel cable ties showed that the trefoil cable runs did withstand the stresses without significant damages/deformation of the high voltage cable and cable ladder.
