PIB EPR Self Amalgamating Tapes
Self amalgamating tapes (PIB and EPR) are rubber based, extremely versatile electrical tape materials, that are non-tacky for ease of application.
Scapa tape characteristics and properties also relates to the type of rubber used in the construction of the amalgamating tape.
Self amalgamating tapes are used for waterproofing, corrosion protection, cable jointing and repair of cables.
PIB (Polyisobutylene) rubber based tapes have excellent amalgamation properties.
However, generally Scapa PIB tapes are used more for general purpose or low voltage applications as the service temperature and electrical properties are generally lower than EPR rubber based self amalgamating tapes.
EPR (Ethylene Propylene) rubber based tapes also have excellent amalgamation properties but with better levels of temperature performance and electrical properties are more often the first choice for higher voltage cable applications.
Key Scapa Tapes:
SCAPA 2501 - Black PIB self amalgamating tape, 0.5mm thickness, -40 to +90°C service temperature
SCAPA 2517 - Black EPR self amalgamating tape, 0.75mm thickness, -40 to +100°C service temperature
SCAPA 2547 - Black EPR self amalgamating tape, 0.75mm thickness, -40 to +100°C service temperature
As one of the few European manufacturers of self amalgamating tapes, Scapa have built a reputation of high quality and performance based on over 30 years of electrical tape manufacturing expertise - T&D UK can provide competitive prices on the complete range of Scapa self amalgamating tapes.
