3M 1402FR hydro-carbon resistant resin cable joints are suitable for the cable jointing of NEK606 Norwegian industry standard cable for the offshore oil, gas, ship and marine industry.

The construction of NEK606 cables are similar to BS6883 and IEC 1580 type D, however variations in the construction relate to the cable insulation, screening, braiding, bedding and sheathing compound.

Cable joints are available for low and high voltage power, control and instrumentation NEK606 cables with resistant to oil and MUD.

NEK606 marine, offshore oil and gas cables are DNV approved and similar to BS6883 and IEEE 1580 type p.

NEK606 cables are constructed with a circular tinned stranded copper wire to IEC 60228 class 2. NEK606 conductors are insulated with either an EP or HEP rubber compound.

If NEK606 offshore cable is manufactured to IEC60331 (Fire Resistant) a mica tape is applied over the individual conductors.

NEK606 armoured cables have a tinned copper wire braid, excellent for mechanical and corrosive protection in offshore installations.

NEK606 cable specification breaks down the individual components of the cable using the key letters BFOU/RFOU depending on whether the offshore cable is flame retardant/fire resistant.

The four letters represent the Colour, Insulation, Armour/Braiding and Bedding/Outer Sheath respectively. B indicates fire resistant cables.

3M Scotchcast offshore cable joints provide reliable service for several offshore oil and gas drilling applications including jackups, submersibles, MODU's, fixed platforms, semi-submersibles and drill ships.

Cables joints are available for Metric, MCM and AWG power, control, instrumentation, signal and communications cables located in both safe and hazardous areas.
