3M Cold Shrink Cable Abandonment Kits and End Caps are suitable for mineral insulated copper clad (MICC), mineral insulated (MI) and Pyrotenax (Pyro) cables including 2, 3 and 4 core, 1.5sqmm, 2.5sqmm, 4sqmm and 6sqmm cables.

MICC, MI, Pyro Cables: Mineral insulated copper clad (MICC) cable is a variety of electrical cable made from copper conductors inside a copper sheath insulated by inorganic magnesium oxide powder.

The cable name is often abbreviated to MICC or MI cable and colloquially known as pyro (because the original manufacturer for this cable in the UK is a company called Pyrotenax). 

MI cable fulfills the passive fire protection called circuit integrity, which is intended to provide operability of critical electrical circuits during a fire.

MI cables are used in critical fire protection applications such as alarm circuits, fire pumps, smoke control, emergency power and lighting systems.

The metal tube surrounding the conductors effectively shields circuits in MI cable from electromagnetic interference.

The metal sheath provides protection against accidental contact with energised circuit conductors.

Special Conversion Instructions for 3M CSCAK Cold Shrink Abandonment Kits to suit Mineral Insulated (MI) Cables :

1. Take original 3M CSCAK/1 Kit
2. Remove original drawing and 3M 2228 Tape
3. Add 1 P60 Constant Force Spring
4. Add 1 Scotchlok 'R' Spring Power Connector, for 1.5sqmm cables
   or Add 1 Scotchlok 'G' Spring Power Connector, for 2.5sqmm cables
   or Add 1 Scotchlok 'B' Spring Power Connector, for 6sqmm cables
5. Add new drawing, re-label kit part number to MI-CSCAK/1
