Prysmian Draka Cables - Bostrig 125 Type P MR Power Cable Applications Prysmian Draka Bostrig 125 Type P Mud Resistant Cable is primarily designed for power, control, signal and instrumentation applications for offshore, land rigs, marine vessels and oil and gas drilling rigs.

Instead of Polychloroprene (Neoprene), the Bostrig MR power cables are sheathed in our proprietary  elastomeric formulation which is not only mud-resistant but qualifies as a low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) cable in accordance with IEEE 45 (1998), IEEE 1580 (2001) and type approved as Type M. 

This mud-resistant jacket is designed for use in areas where ester-based drilling muds and fluids are present. These Prysmian Draka Bostrig 125 Type P Mud Resistant cables are listed by ETL in accordance with IEEE 45 and type approved by DNV as resistant to NOVA Plus, Petrofree LE and Petrofree drilling muds and  fluids.

The Bostrig 125 Type P MR Power cable was tested in accordance with NEK 606 for 56 days at 70ºC in each of the ester-based muds mentioned above. The Bostrig 125 Type P MR Power cable can be manufactured in an unarmoured version.

1. Conductors Soft annealed tinned copper per ASTM B 33. A mylar separator is used over the conductor

2. Insulation Bostrig Type P chemically cross-inked polyolefin (XLPO), meeting IEEE 1580 (2001)

3. Armour Braided bronze in accordance with IEEE 1580 (2001)

4. Sheath Flame-retardant XLPO applied over the armour, meeting requirements of Type L in IEEE 1580 (2001)
