ABB HV Fuses - CLXP Current Limiting Type, ANSI Capacitor Fuses 2.5kV - 25kV

ABB high voltage CLXP individual capacitor fuses have a high-energy capability and are specified for use in outdoor capacitor banks with many parallel capacitor units. ABB CLXP high voltage capacitor fuses contain a current limiting section of the "silversand" type of construction with an interrupting rating of 60,000 amperes asymmetrical. ABB capacitor fuses successfully dissipate the stored energy discharge of any number of parallel connected capacitors.

ABB CLXP High Voltage Outdoor Capacitor Fuse Links - Applications
ABB CLXP fuses are used only for fusing individual single phase capacitor cans - CLXP HV fuse voltage rating can be determined from the voltage rating of the capacitor unit. Do not apply ABB CLXP fuses above their rated voltage. CLXP high voltage current limiting fuses are used on capacitor banks with large numbers of parallel capacitors - CLXP fuses can be used on high voltage applications with essentially infinite parallel stored energy, as long as sufficient back voltage can be developed to force the current to extinguish. The HV current limiting fuse is usually applied to series, large shunt and DC capacitor banks. Because of the high back voltage that is developed, the ABB CLXP fuse range must be used with several capacitors parallel to limit the voltage build up or a flashover may occur elsewhere in the capacitor bank - CLXP current limiting fuses cannot be used in inductively limited fault applications. An extensive range of ABB CLXP high voltage capacitor fuses (current limting type) are available - the design ranges from 7.3kV to 33kV max AC design voltage to 50amps high current elements ald low current element tube capable of using up to 65k links.
