Prysmian Outdoor Porcelain Cable Terminations are based on EPR pre-moulded stress cones. Prysmian have developed a comprehensive range of cable terminations for outdoor applications.
Prysmian Outdoor Porcelain Cable Terminations, are designed to connect underground cables and overhead lines from 72kV up to 525kV. Outdoor cable terminations are fully factory tested for manufacturing defects, the completed cable terminations reliability is comparable to the cable itself. The pre-moulded stress cones, designed to fit over the cable insulation and to follow the cable’s diameter variations, are filled with a newly developed insulating compound to a level where the electric field is substantially reduced, the new type of compound replaces the traditional silicon fluid, it becomes partially solid within a short time after filling. This avoids leakage while still remaining sufficiently elastic to withstand even the highest difference in temperature.
More than 15,000 Prysmian Outdoor Porcelain Cable Terminations have been installed worldwide, for voltages of between 66kV and 400kV.
