Cold Shrink Terminations - Silicone
3M Cold Shrink silicone rubber 3 core cable termination kits (QTIII) 7600-3G series are designed to terminate high voltage 3 core shielded power cables with ground wires for either indoor or outdoor applications.
All 3M Cold Shrink termination components are included :
3M Breakout Boots - an open-ended moulded rubber sealing assembly mounted on removable inner-supporting mounting cores.
Breakout boots are supplied for field installation in a pre-stretched condition. The supporting cores are removed after the boot has been positioned for installation around the breakout area of a three core cable.
Core removal allows the silicone rubber boot to shrink down to a pre-determined diameter creating an environmental enclosure for individual cable phase legs and the overall cable jacket.
3M Re-Jacketing Sleeve Assembly - a tubular silicone rubber insulating sleeve that incororates an inner-expandable polyester braid designed to reduce sliding friction and deliver the silicone tubing onto the cable phase metallic shielding.
Re-jacketing sleeves are designed to protect the shielded cable phase legs from exposure to moisture, corrosion, ozone and UV.
3M QTIII Cable Termination - a one-piece cold shrink assembly that consists of skirted or tubular insulator, high dielectric constant (Hi-K) stress control mastic and a built-in cable lug sealing compound.
Cable core removal allows the termination assembly to shrink down and seal onto prepared cable phase insulation and lug barrel surfaces.
3M QTIII high voltage power cable terminations suit : 5kV, 6.6kV, 8.7kV, 15kV, 25kV, 28kV, 33kV and 35kV power cables.

3M Cold Shrink Silicone Rubber Three-Conductor Cable Terminaiton Kit QT-III, 7600-3G Series, is designed to accomodate three-conductor power cables ranging from 8 AWG (8sqmm) @ 3kV to 500 KCMil (240sqmm) @ 35kV. They are compatible with the following solid dielectric insulation types:
Silicone rubber is the perfect material for high voltage cable terminations.
Water, dirt, grease and oil resistant, completely maintenance free, shock resistant and unbreakable; silicone is far superior to traditional materials such as porcelain.
When used as a stress relief device in sealed applications, silicone performs much better than harder materials such as EPDM because it helps to even out temperature variations and unevenness in the cable surface.
Silicone helps to prevent air gaps and therefore dangerous partial discharges are avoided.
