Scame Zenith P hazardous area enclosure range comprises 15 sizes of electrical enclosure manufactured in GRP glass reinforced polyester with 4 mm thickness for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. GRP enclosures provide excellent mechanical strength and life expectancy - this material is highly resistant to contamination, corrosion-proof and is suitable for LSOH (low smoke zero halogen) applications.

The Scame Zenith hazardous area enclosure range is carbon loaded which helps to reduce the surface resistance of the material and consequently removes the risk of ignition sources through static induced sparking resistivity. The mounting holes are contained within the profile of the electrical enclosure but are outside the seal.

The wall thickness is sufficient to allow entry holes to be machined in the walls of the enclosure and it provides a very good alternative to aluminium, stainless steel or cast iron.

Scame Zenith electrical enclosures may be supplied with terminals fitted or as an empty hazardous area certified component.

If supplied as the latter, then final certification by the customer after fitting additional equipment, must be obtained.

The Scame Zenith P enclosure range offers safe protection in various applications including both industrial and hazardous area (Zones 1, 2, 21, 22) where extremely unfavourable conditions are present - ideal for a wide variety of uses such as OEM applications, fire protection systems, tunnel wiring, lighting, power and instrument junction boxes.

Hazardous Area Zones Classification for Junction Boxes & Enclosures

• Zone 1 - where flammable atmosphere is likely to occur during normal operation.
• Zone 2 - where flammable atmosphere is not likely to occur during normal operation and if it does will only exist for short period of time, typically less than 10 hours per year.
• Zone 21 - a place in which an explosive atmosphere, in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air, is likely to occur occasionally in normal operation.
• Zone 22 - a place in which an explosive atmosphere, in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air, is likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, will persist only for a short period.
