Corrosion & Waterproofing
Underground Cables & Pipes
Denso Tapes
Denso Tape is a cold applied tape which remains plastic over a wide temperature range - Denso Tape is non-hardening and non-cracking.
Denso Tape is highly resistant to mineral acids, alkalis, salts and micro-organisms.
Denso Tape is highly impermeable to water, water vapour and gases and used for the protection of buried or exposed pipes, rods, cables, valves and metal fittings from corrosion.
Denso Tape - non-woven synthetic fibre fabric impregnated and coated with a neutral compound based on saturated petroleum hydrocarbons (petrolatum) and inert siliceous fillers. Denso Tape is available in a range of widths.

For the protection of pipes, fittings and similar structures from corrosion above ground, buried or immersed.
To provide suitable protection from the enviroment the tapes must cover the entire surface. Surfaces must be clean and dry, with all loose rust, scale, and flaking coatings removed by scraping, wire brushing or blast cleaning.
When priming small diameter pipes and fittings, apply Denso Paste by gloved hand in a thin layer over entire surface including threads, crevices and pitted areas.
Larger areas will require Denso Priming Solution to be applied by brush.
Applications for Denso Petrolatum Tapes include pipes, rods, cables, butt welded joints, elbows, tees and flanges.
Select as wide a tape as practical. For buried or immersed applications apply the tape with a 55% overlap to ensure a double thickness.
When used above ground, overlap tapes up to 150mm wide by at least 15mm. For wider tapes overlap by at leaset 25mm. Butt welded joints will require 55% overlap across the entire joint area until it covers the existing coating by a minimum of half it's width + 1 circumferential turn.
Elbows, tees and flanges will require careful bandaging and must have folds firmly pressed onto them to avoid air gaps. The complete fitting must be covered with at least two layers, continuing onto the pipe coating either side.
When confronted by large changes of diameter, bolts and internal angles, make the profile more suitable for wrapping by applying Densyl Mastic as a filler.
If coating repairs are needed, remove loose coating from the damaged area, smooth or chamfer the edges.
Prime the exposed metal and wrap the damaged section of pipe - continuing at least 50mm beyond either side of the damage. Further protection can be applied by overwrapping "Denso PVC Self Adhesive Tape", "Densotherm Tape" or "Densopol 80 Tape" according to specific requirements.
Having completed the operation ensure that the entire surface is covered with no gaps or air pockets.
