3M Scotchcast resin underground cable joints LVI-0 have replaced the 3M Scotchcast BK kit series of inline cable joints for street lighting underground cable jointing applications - 3M LVI-0 underground cable joints are suitable for inline jointing of XLPE SWA cables up to 4 core 50sqmm with either compression crimp connectors of brass tunnel mechanical connectors.  

Scotchcast resin inline resin cable joints are complete with steel wire armour earth continuity kit, cable joint mould, Scotch 23 self amalgamating tape and 470W Scotchcast resin. The "Torpedo" design cable joint shell is ideal for inline jointing cables into narrow access areas such as street lighting columns and underground (direct burial) applications.

3M Scotchcast resin joint kits LVI-0 are designed to be used for multi core armoured polymeric low voltage energy cables. LV resin cable joints incorporate electrical insulation and mechanical protection of joints for use with either compression or mechanical connectors. LV resin joints can be used for indoor and outdoor, underground and submerged applications.

 3M Scotchcast Resin Cable Joints - LVI Kits Description

3M Scotchcast resin inline joint kits will be delivered with a two part translucent cable jointing mould body for simple and easy handling. The cable joint mould body can be adapted to the required cable diameter by cutting the marked areas of the mould. The 3M Scotchcast resin 470W is delivered in a two chamber bag and aluminium guard bag for protection against humidity. After the seam of the two chamber bag is opened, the resin components can be mixed. To pour the 3M Scotchcast resin into the mould body, the bag has to be cut open. To provide resin handling without any skin contact, disposable gloves meeting EN394 are provided with the cable joint kit. For protection against pollution, a closure cap is applied onto the dome. After curing, the remaining resin in the bag can be disposed as household waste.

3M LVI cable joints are suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous area installations utilising 3M Scotchcast 1402FR hydro-carbon resistant resin.

Underground Cable Jointing 

Where cables are laid direct underground prior to cable jointing, care should be taken that the bottom of the cable trench is substantially smooth and free of sharp edged stones - the backfill around the cables should be free of sharp edged stones and rubble. Cable joint holes should not be back filled until the underground resin/joint filler is fully hardened. Underground cable joints must be kept dry until the resin/joint filler is fuly hardened.
