Resin Joints & Mixing of Cold Pour Compound

Mixing of Cold Pour Resin Compound for LV Cable Jointing & Jointers

1. Always wear goggles and disposable gloves when working with cold pour resin compound. From the cable jointing procedure, determine the amount of resin compound that will be required to fill the cable joint and remove the required number and size of twin pack or packs from their outer packaging.

2. Wearing goggles and disposable gloves (supplied with cable joint), take the first twin pack and break the heat seal or remove the divider - resin pack types vary. Mix the twin pack of resin compund by kneading with the hands for two minutes until an even colour is obtained.

3. Cut the corner of the resin compound pack and pour the contents into the cable joint box. If further packs are required to fill the cable joint box, repeat items 2 and 3 as many times as needed. It is important once pouring starts it continues until the cable joint box is full. Do not allow rainwater to enter the cable joint box.

Cable Jointers Tip - If the cable joint box is small and the weather is cold, quicker compound setting will be obtained if a clean dry rag is folded and loosely wrapped over the cable joint box, so that heat is retained.
