ABB HRC Fuse Links with 100kA Breaking Capacity

 

ABB low voltage HRC fuse links type gG (ABB OFAA  and ABB OFAF) are designed to meet the requirements of electrical power overload and short circuit protection - the ABB fuse link breaking point is sufficient even at the highest short-circuit level, breaking point of ABB OFAA fuses is over 100kA when the service voltage is same as rated voltage (up to 690V) and frequency is 50Hz. Both ABB OFAA and OFAF ranges include blown fuse indicators.
gG = fuses with full range breaking capacity for general application.

ABB low voltage HRC fuse links type aM provide reliable and fast short-circuit protection for motor circuit equipment and cables. ABB HRC motor fuse links have a 100kA breaking capacity - overload protection for motor circuits is provided with an overload relay and contactor. At high overload currents, the ABB aM fuse link is faster than the ABB gG fuse link, however at motor starting currents theAMM aM fuse link is slower than the ABB gG fuse link. Rated voltage is 690V for all ABB fuse sizes.
aM = fuses with partial range breaking capacity for motor circuit protection.


How ABB Fuse Line Fuse Links Limit Currents.............
To prevent danger and damage to electrical equipment and circuits, short circuit currents need to be interupted extremely quickly. Generally, the quick temperature rise generated within the short circuit current causes electrical equipment to breakdown. ABB fuse links are designed to react to this temperature rise and exercise their current limiting ability. Fuse links contain granulated quartz which binds the temperature generated in the arc created by the short circuit. At the same time the pressure rises inside the fuse link and the fuse element ruptures. Fuses prevent "blackouts" - only the fuse nearest the fault trips without upstream fuses (feeders or mains) being affected.


Economical Fuse Links
Life time costs of low voltage fuse systems are low - fuse links which can withstand a high fault level and fault current are available at economical prices. After tripping, only the fuse link has to be changed. Because the fuse links can be rapidly and easily replaced, plant down-time and maintenance is substantially reduced with a fuse link system.
