Pfisterer Connex high voltage surge arresters 11kV-12kV are used for the protection of metal-enclosed clad switchgear and transformers with plug-in type HV bushings (EN50180/EN50181) - the seperable surge arrester is installed on the switchgear/transformer to prevent the intake of high over-voltages, especially produced by the reflection of travelling waves. When installing HV surge arresters for switchgear/transformers connected to the transmission line via a cable route, the transition between the cable and transmission line should be protected with suitable high voltage surge arresters. The capacity of electrical protection is coordinated with the HV high voltage switchgears resistance to surge voltages.
