ecom Tab-Ex Series Hazardous Area Tablet is the worlds first, hazardous area certified, handheld tablet computer. Part of the range of ecom hazardous area communication devices distributed by Thorne & Derrick and certified for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas, the tablet also comes with ATEX and IECEx certification.

The tablet is equally as lightweight and portable as it is rugged and tough. Launched in Assamstadt, Ecom Tab-Ex Hazardous Area ATEX IECEx TabletGermany at IFA Berlin 2014, the ecom Tab-Ex hazardous area tablet is set to revolutionise communications between anybody working in and around hazardous areas.

The ecom Tab-Ex is designed for hazardous area industries such as oil, gas, petrochemical, offshore and marine - ecom Tab-Ex allows constant communication and the performance of tasks that might otherwise have been performed on a desktop computer away from the actual location in which inspections may be being carried out.

The Future Of Hazardous Area Communications

The range of ecom hazardous area communication products include mobile phones, two-way radios and laptops. The ecom Tab-Ex is the worlds first Zone 1 tablet and really demonstrates how much hazardous area communications have developed and evolved.

The oil and gas industry is one industry where hazardous areas are commonplace with platforms such as oil rigs and refineries being potentially hazardous and the threat of harmful gases and potentially explosive atmospheres being ever present.
