3M Scotchcast low voltage resin cable joints are suitable for cable jointing single core XLPE (aluminium wire armoured), EPR (galvanised wire braided) and unarmoured power cables, 600/1000v.
Aluminium wire armour (AWA) is used in BS5467 low voltage single core XLPE insulated power cables because it is non-magnetic - electric currents passing through cables produce magnetic fields which induce a secondary electric current in steel wire armoured (SWA) cables (eddy currents) causing overheating on AC systems - resin cable joints include AWA earth continuity kits for earth fault protection.
