A hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or more distinct power sources to move the vehicle. The term most commonly refers to hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which combine an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors. Hybrid vehicles use high voltage batteries and electric motors to achieve fuel economy gains.

 

Emergency Resuscitation Procedure for Electrocution Victims

1-Tilt head backwards. Lift chin upwards. Check for breathing and circulation.
2-Circulation and breathing present. Place in recovery position.
3-No breathing but circulation present - give breaths at approx. 10 per minute checking circulation after every 10 breaths.
4-No breathing, no circulation - give 2 breaths, give chest compressions - 30 compressions, then 2 breaths.

Class 0 rated insulating gloves, rated up to 1000 Volts AC must not have any tears, pinholes or cuts - car workers and mechanics should always test insulating glove integrity by rolling them up toward the fingers to check if they hold air. If they do not, dispose of the insulating gloves and purchase new safety gloves.

Hybrid Vehicles DC Dangers - high voltage DC direct current is especially dangerous because it typically causes continuous muscular contractions that prevent the victim "letting go". This increases the liklihood of deep tissue burns, organ damage and death. The threshold voltage where DC becomes dangerous can be as low as 55 to 60 volts.
