Alroc cable insulation stripping tool 8YRO-LH5 suits medium and high voltage cables with single or 3 cores - ideal for cable stripping 6.6kV, 11kV, 33kV and 66kV cables with insulation cable diameters 100-140mm.

Insulation stripping tools remove the plastic or elastomeric insulation layer from cables without damaging the conducting cable core beneath. Using a lockable variable blade depth, the Alroc high voltage cable tools range can be used on a variety of cable dimensions delivering clean and accurate insulation stripping leaving a straight edge on the insulation of medium and high voltage cables. Alroc stripping tools are extremely robust and a full range of spare parts is available.

Alroc tools are preferred by HV cable jointers and cable contractors for stripping and removing XLPE insulation from cables.

Cable Insulation (XLPE) Contamination
It is important that the HV XLPE cable insulation be free from all moisture and contamination. Common XLPE cable contaminates include, mud on the outside surfaces and semi-conductive particles, left on the surface of the cable insulation, after the conductive screen has been removed by the HV cable jointer. If these contaminants remain on the XLPE cable insulation surfaces being cable jointed or cable terminated, a conductive path can exist, and the difference in potential, between the energised conductor and earth screen will cause current to flow through the contamination, resulting in erosion and ultimately breakdown. To avoid this happening, all care must be taken to ensure the cable jointer keeps his hands, as well as his cable jointing tools clean and dry.
