3M Scotchcast BK underground cable joints are Highways Agency approved for straight, branch,multi-service, transition and pot-end cable jointing of XLPE, PVC/SWA or unarmoured cables, 600/1000v.

3M Scotchcast Resin BK cable joints have been replaced by 3M Scotchcast Resin LVI-0 range of street lighting cable jointing kits for underground cable jointing (direct burial) applications.

Jointing LV Service Cables 

Resin or heat shrink joints are available for LV service cable jointing on UK DNO networks - this includes concentric (single phase or three pase) and split concentric service cables with black PVC cable sheaths and copper or aluminium conductors. Cable joints are suitable for direct buried (underground) or cable ducted installations. 

Underground Cable Jointing 

Where cables are laid direct underground prior to cable jointing, care should be taken that the bottom of the cable trench is substantially smooth and free of sharp edged stones - the backfill around the cables should be free of sharp edged stones and rubble. Cable joint holes should not be back filled until the underground resin/joint filler is fully hardened. Underground cable joints must be kept dry until the resin/joint filler is fuly hardened.
