3M Scotchcast Resins - 8882 Re-Enterable Gels
3M Re-enterable Resin High Gel 8882 is used to insulate solid dielectric and oil filled cables up to 8kV, encapsulate high voltage cable joints up to 66kV and used for underground joints and splices in the telecommunications industry.
3M Re-enterable Resin High Gel 8882 offers enhanced penetration of splice and joint bundles at low temperatures due to its low viscosity and longer gel time. Re-enterable gel contains no isocyanates (non-toxic) for advanced health and safety, excellent adhesion and moisture resistance.
Re-enterable gel resins are used for general electrical insulation applications and void filling in junction boxes and enclosures - ideal for encapsulating, sealing, potting, insulating and shock dampening.
3M Re-enterable Resin for LV HV & Hazardous Area Cable Box Filling
3M 8882 gel resin is suitable for low and high voltage cable box filling, including terminal boxes feeding high voltage electric motors. 3M 8882 gel provides electrical insulation to cable boxes where the cable enters the terminal box and the insulated conductors need to be encapsulated. Previously, hot pour compounds (bitumen types) have been used to fill LV-HV cable box voids - hot pour compounds require heating with a flame to melting point before pouring the compound into the cable box. Similarly, in order to regain access to the cable conductors, the compound had to be heated to drain the cable box. 3M 8882 is a cold pour electrical insulation system ideal for hazardous areas (Zone 1 and Zone 2) where "hot-working" and blowtorch use is forbidden.
